Where I Can't Follow-Official Book Trailer

Here it is, the Book Trailer that I spent all day yesterday producing. I recorded myself playing the guitar, did a little amateur voice acting, recorded the video (with my cell phone ;-) and designed the advertising plates with the e-reader mock ups as well.

I think it manages to capture the essence of the book, even accounting for the limited resources at my disposal, but I'm actually more interested to know what you think. Please either use the comments section at the bottom of this post or hit me up on facebook or "the Twitter".

Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

  1. Wow, pretty cool, Chris! Very professional looking. If I had one criticism, it would be that I have some trouble understanding the voices over the guitar. Maybe you could tweak the volumes of each?

  2. Thanks Frank! Yeah, I intentionally saved the file in my video editor because I knew there was something off on it, so I will take a look at it again tonight.

I guess after writing the screenplay, recording the lines 10-15 times at varying inflections, and editing the video, my ears got so used to hearing the words that they could pick them out more easily than someone new to the project, lol.

    Thanks for the feedback!

  3. I definitely appreciate the time put into it and it is on par with a professional trailer. I am amazed at what you can do with cell phones these days!

Hope you realize my criticism was meant to help you get as many new readers as possible. For as cool as the trailer looks, I think your words are the most important part for selling your story, so wanted to make sure you knew I had trouble hearing them.

  4. I absolutely take it the right way Frank. I appreciate the constructive criticism more than when someone just says, "its good!" Because I don't operate under the illusion that I'm perfect and sometimes have a hard time picking out just WHAT is wrong or missing, even when I know something is.

Several people have echoed your concerns about the dialog, so I would say you are right on the money. You were the first one to pick it out though ;-).

And I do appreciate the kind words, it was time consuming but alot of fun. I needed to learn the software anyways because I have a viral video campaign in mind for my upcoming science fiction series, and those plans are a fair bit more ambitious than this.

    Thanks again!
